My "how to" on mixing sublingual hCG, using a self-developed approximation of the Releana formulation, with links to my helpful guides to do Dr. Simeon's "Pounds and Inches" Very Low Calorie Diet. And oh yah...I also blogged my experience.
Mar 9, 2008
march 9, 2008 - day 53 (weight 217.6-down 40.9)
Lost the 0.8 lbs and back down to 217.6 lbs.
Went out to breakfast for my birthday (which is on Tuesday). I will also be eating my favorite dinner and banana cream pie for dessert tomorrow, so I may gain a couple here over the next couple.
Had Steak Tips, asparagas and an orange for dinner.

Hi Dan, you don’t know me but I know Tim and Nolan we go to the same church.
I’m just on my 8th day doing the vlcd. When you go off the vlcd do you take your
Hcg? Thank Lynn for the dressing recipe, I have been wanting to try it.
You are doing awesome on this….

Lynn,
During the normal phase (what folks refer to as phase 2), you take it either; 7 days a week; or 6 days and skip a day; or 5 days and skip a day.
Folks use the "skip a days", because the hCG stays in your system for up to 3 days anyway, and it allows them to put off temporary immunity, which you get if you do shots, at about the 50th injection (it varies). To be on the safe side, folks do 40 injections and then take 3 weeks off, and then do 40 more. With the skip days, that it either 48 days (6 on 1 off) or 8 weeks (5 on 2 off).
With the sublingual formulation, immunity isn't an issue, so you can take it as much as you want and never stop until you get down to weight. You can do skip days, but I normally don't since I forget to take my evening dose from time to time anyway and that kind of balances it out.
When you are stopping because you either A) got down to your goal weight, or B) you are taking your 3 week break (if doing injections), or C) you got immunity and need to take a 6 week break - you stop taking hCG, but keep eating the VLCD for 3 days as the hCG exits your system, then you eat as much as you want for 3 weeks, only no sugars or starches. Then you can eat sugars and starches too, but you monitor your weight daily and any day you gain 2 or more lbs, you have a steak day, eating no breakfast, and only steak for lunch and dinner.
Upon starting up again, you start taking hCG and "load" for 3 days to top off you nomal and structural fat stores.
I don't know if people realize that you really don't have to eat 500 calories a day because you are hungry, you eat it because with hCG, your body does not differentiate between normal, structural or excess stored body fat - it just burns a little here and a little there. When you consume 500 calories, the first thing your body does with it is top off you normal and structural fat stores. This way you don't look gaunt or emmaciated with this VLCD diet. If you scrimp on the very specifically balanced diet that Dr. Simmeons developed, you will look gaunt and emmaciated and you body will work against you a little bit.
It is important to eat 3.5 oz of very lean meat, 3.5 oz of the specific vegetables, an apple or orange, etc, and the grissini breadstick for each meal. Each of these things does something specific for normal and structural fat stores.
Dan
Thank you Dan for all!! the information. I am on injections.
I love the fact i am not hungry.
thanks for your blog it is inspirational to me. I was noticing you mix veg. and ate broccoli and still lost? this is my 9th day now.
I went from 209, 3 load days to 215 and now I am 205!! the lowest I have been in a long time.
Thanks again to you and your brothers!!God Bless You All.
Lynn,
People are generally confused about this item. The reason one would stick to ONE vegetable has to do with eating a set amount of calories. I am certain that Dr. Simmeons did not count calories to the fraction in his clinic like we do, so we can get the maximum amount of food each day (we are greedy and don't want to give any up).
Millineum Health Spa, the makers of Releana (which I kind of copied), modified the diet to be 3.5 oz of what ever vegetable for each meal, without regard to calorie content, and they added in Broccoli and Cauliflower to the list. Transformations clinics also allow Broccoli and Cauliflower.
When I figured out how many calories are in 3.5 oz of each allowed vegetable, and then checked that against the Broccoli and Cauliflower calories, I saw that Broccoli is nearly twice the calories of all other vegetables, and all but broccoli are pretty close to the same as each other at about 20 cal per 3.5 oz. serving.
I also know that the meat, other than beef, is pretty close to each other calorie wise as well. Now it made sense to me the guidance to have beef only one meal per day and fish, chicken, etc., the other meal.
Why? Calories. If you eat beef one meal, and chicken, fish or whatever other than beef, for the other, and have any vegetable in a 3.5 oz quantity, with an apple or orange, etc., and add in a grissini, guess what? You are always in the range of 460 to 500 calories. No matter how you slice it.
Frankly, you can really have 4.5 oz vegetable servings, with the exception of broccoli, and still be within 500 calories.
So, from my vantage point, it doesn't matter what vegetables you get 3.5 oz. of, as long as the total doesn't exceed that, then your calories are spot on. Your body doesn't work harder or less hard if it is 3.5 oz of mixed vegetables as opposed to one type of vegetable.
Now Dr. Simmeons does make another comment that some confuse too. He says, "No more that the four at any one meal." He is talking about snacking when he says this. He is saying you can't have your meat, fruit, breadstick and TWO fruit at one meal. Or TWO meat, or TWO servings of vegetables, etc., That would be too many calories at one sitting.
Here's why: your body adjusts to the amount you are eating, and the times at which you eat. Keeping as consistent as possible helps it to all work together with your body for maximum, consistent weight loss. Otherwise your body has to compensate by retaining water, or retaining food stored in the blood, of all places.
For me, I am now just doing 3.5 oz. of vegetables and not calorie counting. I know it is close. And if mixing makes a more interesting meal, there is no reason not to mix. Heck, mix it all. Did you see my wife's broccoli bake? Uses everything but the fruit. Heck it's mixed in the stomach any way.
WHen I have a salad, I know I can add a few slices of tomato or my wifes dressing withput going over in calories, since I know I have a reserve (unless I had broccoli that day).
It just makes it so much easier and so much more interesting, and since this is a long haul thing, it needs to stay interesting to keep from cheating.
Dan
