Down 0.4 lbs again, but as I have said before, the bad thing about cheating (like going to anniversary dinner), isn't the stall in weight loss, but rather getting past the hunger and back onto the strict diet. I did somewhat better yesterday, but not best and am hungry today for sure. Remember hunger lags a day or more frequently two, because your body preplans how much fat to mobilize for energy 2 to 3 days in advance. If you are getting more calories from food, especially if you have cheating for several days in a row, your body sets and you have to break it. Get past the hungry day and you will have a decent weight loss and be back to normal as far as hunger and weight loss goes.

If I can get past today, I should have 2 good days before Thanksgiving.

OK, lets call that a failed trial. I never did this bad on a trip in the past. I am going to bring the hCG with me and stay on the diet next time.

Gained 2.6 lbs and I really did not eat that much. I didn't eat like the diet, but that was the plan. Last trip where I forgot the scale, but brought the hCG, at least I was close to the allowed items. This time I was good, but had omelets with cheese, etc., like Dr. Simeons said you can, plus other stuff as well.

Not doing that again. That's at least a week loss in effort to get back to where I was (4 days for trip and 2 to 3 days to be on diet again and get back to where I was).

Funny, though Dr. Simeons says if you aren't losing weight, you are losing inches. I definitely lost around the waist while I was gone. My pants are actually the right size for me now.

I just mixed another batch of hCG. That one went quick.

My wife did start hCG last night.

A couple other things to note:

as I was reading the protocol manuscript again, I saw that Dr. Simeons has you stop for business trips. That has me thinking about doing that to save the hassle and as Dr. Simeons puts it, it allows for more freedom on what you eat. I may do that for business trips and thanksgiving. I haven't yet decided. It does put off the goal, so I am weighing that (no pun intended).

Also, Dr. Simeons DOES allow for diet soda. He says that with the advent of zero calorie foods, that those can be taken as long as you only get 100 grams protein per meal 2X, the right amount of veggies and only a scant amount of carbs.

This makes it difficult to eat something like zero calorie cookies, because you don't get scant amounts of starch and carbs, but opens the door to diet soda. What else could we eat then? Can't think of anything else at the moment.

My wife is considering doing the Simeons' Protocol, and she is a quasi-vegetarian, so I have been rereading to find out what she must eat.

Vegetarians must still have 100 grams of animal protein a day, so it is either curds or milk. Fortunately for my wife, she also eats fish, so she can add the fish listed below (this list is out of my list at top under "calorie count for and list of allowed items"

No loss. No surprise since I didn't even need to go #1 today until 1:30 PM, other than after I got up. And I have drank a ton too, so my body is holding the water.

I find when I am behaving and am properly hydrated, I need to go around 10:30 AM. Earlier is better. Funny that I know that, but I tried so hard ot be scientific last time, I kept track of all sorts of things.

I am not hungry today and should be (2 days past eating more calories than normal). We'll see what tomorrow is like.

Gained 0.8 lbs, which does not surprise me. I forgot to bring a food scale and so I went to restaurants and ordered the correct foods meaning to eat the correct quantity (by guess), but just finished it all. Plus they cook in grease and butter, which is not allowed.

For my next trip I will bring all my chicken with me pre-prepared. For longer trips, I will bring the food scale in my checked luggage, along with my weight scale. The tomato and apple, I can get at destination. I did bring 2 meals with me this time and had no problem getting through (2 apples, 2 tomatoes, 2 chicken patty's, grisini).

Bringing the hCG worked fine. I brought my lunch bag, with an empty tupperware bin that fits inside, also with ice packs for the trip to the airport, and then left the ice packs in the car (they are not allowed and will be seized - yes I learned this the hard way in the past). I then put the hCG in with my paste/liquid toiletries in the quart baggie, and send that through at the security check point. Drugs ARE allowed, but to justify an ice pack they want a prescription. I just avoid that issue this way and it has worked 3 or 4 times now doing it this way.

After the security check point, I look on the way to the gate for a place with a soda fountain and free ice and I fill the tupperware bin with the hCG bottle in it, and put that back in my carry-on. The ice easily lasted 12 hours by the way.

If my weight loss doesn't return, I will cut back again.

I will likely settle to a more normal 1 to 2 pounds per day based on last time today or tomorrow.

Had hunger, but that was due the rebound from eating a huge meal late on the last day of loading. Hunger ought to be more normal starting today.

I am doing a lot of physical labor right now (pre-diet) and that may mess with my hunger and energy, as you are to stay where you are at in working out, or your body has a week to two adjustment that makes it more difficult.

After first day of VLCD, I am down 3 pounds from yesterday.

Ate chicken, tomato and apple both meals. I actually prepared chicken and bought tomatoes for 4 days worth of meals. This is going to be my default meal, with grisini and water. This is the diet my brother Nolan used most of the time and it is the one I went to for my last month or two last time. The consistency made a big difference in amount I lost and how hungry I was.

I will use other allowed items to keep me from cheating; like having a cup of coffee or switching to shrimp for a meal, etc.

I was down a little on energy compared to the three days prior. To be expected as my body anticipates 450 calories from food and adjusts to giving me the rest from stored fat. Today should be better and tomorrow to the new normal (takes 2 to 3 days to adjust for caloric intake verses what the body will provide this is why cheating affects you 2 to 3 days down the road weight and cravings wise).

My friend Matt and I are starting the diet and we mixed up new batches tonight and took our first dose.

Nice that the hCG from the new place comes in a bottle that you don't have to break and so you don't need that mixing bottle at all.

I am planning to take pro-biotics the entire time to help get rid of the yeast overgrowth in my body. I'd suggest anyone/everyone do the same. This will help during and after too! Take a ton of it!

This time I will exercise during or at the end of the weight loss. I will get into a healthy habit and eat healthier and with the yeast under control, I am sure it will stay better.

Even though I am within 10 pounds of my weight last time, I don't look like it. I still look much healthier and more proportionate.

about the hcg diet and love handles

Question:
Hello again, I have a few questions about my body fat. I have lost almost 70 pounds so far but my belly and my love handles are still there. My belly and love handles have gone down a lot but its not matching the way my lower body has lost. My question is if i should stop taking the hcg and work it off or keep taking it? I'm weighing 221 pounds today and my goal weight is 180. My friends that are on the diet too are telling me to stop when i run out of hcg then work out. What do you think i should do and will the belly and love handles go away if i keep going to my goal weight taking the Hcg? Thank you so much and i hope to hear back from you soon.

Answer:
Keep going. Don't stop. Skin absorption can lag 2 to 3 weeks. You won't completely firm up until you stop and go 2 to 3 weeks. Why take a break and put that off?

Get to your goal and then come off properly. It will all absorb just fine.

You can always work out again in your new post hCG lifestyle.

Sorry for the link errors, I used my web server to transfer files while I replaced my daughters hard drive and reloaded my computer and must have pulled them all off the server. They are back now. Google must have done something too, as some other links needed fixing. I also fixed links to all products so they are available. Stevia glycerine hasn't been available for a while, so now you can get to the google product search and get food grade kosher glycerine elsewhere.

I am still battling this yeast infection and feel I can't start again until this is conquered. Switching Doctors now, so hopefully soon.

Please let me know if you find a link error or if a product isn't availa ble. I know a lot of people are using my work, so I want to keep it up to date!

lesson's learned...gearing up for another try...

I am near where I was to start. Isn't that sad? The reason is not a failure of the diet, but I have learned lessons I will apply to the next time which is coming soon.

Lesson #1: Make sure you don't have an internal yeast or candida overgrowth or thrush. This fights you on phase 3 and 4 (see the 3/6/09 post for more info on this).

Lesson #2: Phase 3 (right after you stop hCG) is the one area YOU DO NOT CHEAT OR COMPROMISE ON. It is the key to keeping the weight off. If you follow one part religiously, it is this part.

Lesson #3: Portion control. Err in eating way too little in phase 3 and 4 (actually for the phase 3 part, just double the diet from phase 2-you need about 1000 calories and that is about 1000 calories). You have a "NEW" amount you eat at each meal, not the amount you used to eat when you were heavy. This is my biggest lesson's learned by the way. You can always eat a little more later if you are hungry. Remember it takes 2 days for your body to adjust to a change in your intake (it adjusts how much it will take from fat stores and how much it "expects" you to intake). You may have to be hungry for 2 days at times as you get this under control (this is what a steak day is doing - telling your body to not expect a lot of intake, while keeping protein level high for your brain and muscles).

You can guess how I did on the above 3 items....not so good.

Please don't write the diet off because of my troubles, but learn my lessons and be successful.

i finally know what is rocking my progress

I have a "yeast overgrowth" in my mouth, sinuses and intestines that is causing me to crave sugar and yeast products. That really does explain what my trouble is from going right back to where I was. Now taking care of it is the hard part.

I know I got it from taking 4 months of strong anti-boitics a while back, and not taking pro-boitics to keep my natural bactrias strong, which allowed the yeast to take over.

This may explain why other folks I know could never stay on the VLCD while taking hCG too. They needed to deal with the yeast overgrowth first.

My symptoms are hives (that is a recent thing), red hands, thrush on the tongue, of course the craving, a sinus infection that wouldn't go away (fungal treatment is working now), and the test is to, first thing in the morning, spit from the mouth in a clear cup or glass and watch for strings and how long it takes to migrate to the bottom of the cup. Spit is from mouth (saliva) and not the throat (phelgm) and you can just save the saliva for a couple minutes first.

If you have no yeast, it will stay floating. The more you have, the quicker it will go to the bottom. (5 minutes to 1 hour) and the more strings you get, the worse.

Mine went to the bottom in 1 minute and that was shocking to the health store lady. Their treatment did absolutely nothing. The Dr prescribed something, but too little and after a week, I am right back where I was, though at first it made my hives disappear, they did slowly come back after a week.

I will follow up after the yeast is taken care of.

long time no post

I wanted to update you on the struggle. I knew I would need to do a short phase 2/phase 3 follow up since I entered phase 3. I knew I wasn't doing phase 2 and phase 3 right and knew it would need to be repeated, but the temptation to eat anything and everything I wanted, led me to cheat.

I haven't done my follow up courses yet, as travel and other of life's busyness has kept me from setting aside the necessary 6 weeks.

I am up to 225 lbs : 15 of it in the past 3 1/2 weeks. I went on a long business trip and didn't pork out, but did not drink water right and added a lot of sun and a lot of exercise at the same time. I know I am carrying at least 15 lbs of water and need to get back to correct hydration. Once hydrated and past the retention due to a massive sun burn, and also a big change in level of physical activity, I will be back down to a manageable weight. Still more than I hoped, but one step at a time.

One BIG, BIG, BIG lesson I have learned and want to pass on is that you need to consciously limit the amount of food you eat, and also how fast you eat. Old habits are hard to break, but this is ESSENTIAL. I find I am taking portions I DO NOT NEED! It is the old "normal amount" I used to eat. Plus, as easy as pasta is to make, avoid it like the plague. My wife cooks it a lot because it is easy, and it is just not a good thing. NO MORE PASTA MEALS. Eat a small amount as a side dish. Keep up with the 1/4 meat, 1/4 vegetable, 1/4 fruit and 1/4 bread-grain idea. 1/4 bulk quantity I mean, not necessarily calorie. 1/4 meat, dairy, cheese. 1/4 vegetables, nuts. 1/4 fruits. 1/4 bread, cereal, pasta. Small quantities. Don't eat before bed. Don't eat more than a little desert and no more than 2X per day, whether snack or after meal.
AVOID PROCESSED FOODS.

You know - eat like a kid. One small hamburger, if you are going to go there. Small fries and throw some away. Don't forget the healthy part of the meal. Veggies and Fruit.

Now if I can just put this into practice, I will be there.

I will post through my follow-up phases and then of course my progress. This is no good if you can't keep it off. I know you can, but you must change your bad habits. Guess that's the part I am not good at.

My meals are more consistent now that I can have some carbs. I feel better about what I am eating than when I was cheating. Still I don't like this weight. Will continue to try to stabilize and decrease.

guide to phase names

Kevin Trudeau can be blamed for the reference us hCG-ers make to phases.

In his plan, you start with a cleansing phase, phase 1. Then the main phase is called phase 2 and the 3 week phase to conclude a course is called phase 3. You might see people showing P2R2, which means phase 2 round 2. Phase 2 followed by a 3 or 6 weeks phase three and back to a second course of hCG phase 2, thus Phase 2 Round 2.

I did succomb to this a little, but I tried to stick to "main phase" and "conluding phase"

I really don't believe in Trudeau's program, but if it works for you, then go for it. I think it is changed enough to be able to make a buck off of. I don't think it was done scientifically or with a lot of thought. I think that he has you taking an awful lot of junk, which is unnecessary. My health food store advisor said the diet I am doing is a cleansing all by iteself and I shouldn't have to do any other cleansing. Dr. Simmeons said that your body absorbs the cell that contained the fat and get from that cell all the nutrition and vitamins you need and don't need to take anything else. So why then is Trudeau having you take all that stuff? Is he making money? Isn't that what he is blasting the pharmaceutical companies for doing?

Although as pointed out by someone else in a comment to me, we do have KT to thank for the current interest in hCG. Although others found "Pounds and Inches" (after KT got hCG attention in his books), and they also led the way re-establishing Dr. Simmeons diets, which is what we are doing here.

I am going to try my hardest to not cheat today or tomorrow, to get me off into the 3 week concluding phase correctly.

I am looking for a big shift in the amount of hunger. That is the signal that the hCG is out of the system. Then I can increase my intake and can also eat dairy, eggs, and whatever meat I want, as well as a greater selection of veggies. Just can't eat the starchy veggies, mostly the orange and yellow veggies are the starchy ones.

BTW, for travel considerations, at Von's grocerry store, the meat/deli counter had grilled chicken and chicken kabobs (with tomatoes and green peppers). These might be good items to consider as a meat while on travel.

As I enter the 3 week concluding phase (the 3 week phase that is after you finish hCG or also in-between courses), I will post my observations and a list of allowed items, as I discover it myself, to make my blog more complete.

I don't think I was really up 1.4 lbs. My scale works well on a flat surface, and I have it on a 3 inch tile floor. If it moves at all, it doesn't read the same. When the maids come in they have to move it, so I did count tiles to get it on the same 4, but it may still not be reading the same as the day before. I may try puting it out the front door tomorrow. I just have to figure out how to do it without being seen. Swim trunks are liekly the answer.

I am hungry today from wake up. Not real hungry, but it is definitely different. I am thinking that traaveling out here allowed the mix to get too warm and it had lost it's potency a couple days ago. That could explain the difficulty I am having with being a little hungry too.

Maybe I won't have to wait 3 whole days to ramp up the intake. My brother Nolan said I will get REAL hungry, so that it what I am looking for to tell me I am ready for the 3 week concluding phase.

Down only 2 lbs in 5 days. I think I may try switching to sliced deli sandwhich chicken meat and see if it is less fatty.

With per diem, I went and replaced all my clothes. I have lost 73 lbs now and never replaced my clothes. For one reason I was wearing a size 38 waist and should have been wearing a 42 or 44. Plus I had some size large shirts still and just made due with XL's.

Now I am a 34 waist and need a belt for those, wear a size 15 1/2 neck (was a 17 1/2) and medium shirts, though I could get away with size small now, but I figure I want to put muscle back on, so I will stick with medium.

I bought 2 new suits, and 7 days worth of dress shirts and pants, 7 days worth of casual shirts and pants and 10 days worth of undergarments. Still looking for a light jacket. My leather jacket still looks fine!!

I can't believe how easy this diet is. After 2 months, I said "I can't believe I've been doing it 2 months!" I was down about 42 lbs by then. Now, I can't believe it has alread been 5 months!! Wow!! 3 days to 5 months! I did one for 4 months and lost 28 lbs. It was SOOOO hard. I have been doing this 5 months and am down 73 lbs!! 10.4 lbs to go to my goal weight!!

The exciting thing in addition to having lost 71.7 lbs, is that I am now within 11.8 lbs of my goal weight.

I have been doing good since early May when my Mom came for a visit. I have not been allowing myself to entertain the thought of any specific food. If it comes in my mind, I think about being skinny. I don't even allow myself to look at foods I am not allowed to have. If I stumble on to the snack cupboard, I close it quick. Same when walking through a grocery store. I do a lot of looking down and looking away.

I was allowing myslef to think about, "When I get to eat normal, I am having this or that," and it just made the problem worse.

No loss, but I only slept 4 hours.

I bought a rotisserie chicken from Alberton's grocery store. they sell them in the deli. I will only eat the breast (no skin), and toss the remainder, but it only cost $5.99 and will last 2 or three days in the hotel fridge. I also got tomatoes and oranges. Couldn't find grissini, so I got these mini toasts that looked like similar ingredients to grissini's.

I am traveling again and this time it is too long to just skip hCG or bring a couple little vials.

I packed my hCG and ice packs in my lunch bag and packed it in my carry on.

I also packed my scale in my checked luggage and my food scale in my carry on.

After a 20 minute interrogation and bomb squad incident, I have some lesson's learned to share.

Evidentally, they could not make out that it was a food scale in the x-ray and it must have looked like a bomb to them. They stopped all action and then backed it out, and then before they touched it, they swabbed it and ran a chemical anylsis on it. That was clear so they had me describe in detail what was in there and what it was for.

Then they pulled it and me aside to a special area in the security area, and opened my bag and took swabs and ran analysis and when clear, proceeded to look at the scale. They wanted to know why I needed it and how I used it. Once satisfied, they took my lunch pail and said they were concerned about opening it because of sharp objects. I said "If you mean the syringe, it is a dosing syring and has no needle." They proceeded. They asked about the cooler gel ice packs and why did I have 5 of them. I said for my weight loss medicine that is there in the glass bottle. They said the only way an ice pack is allowed, is if it is for medicine, but my bottle could be anything, because it was unmarked. So they pulled out all the cooler gel packs and said they would need to be discarded. I told them I figured they would treat the unmarked bottle like shampoo and as long as it wasn't more that 3 oz., I figured it would be OK.

Then they asked about the formulation and use of the hCG. I explained what it was and what was in it (1/2 sterile water, 1/4 vodka, 1/4 food grade sweet glycerine to make the vodka taste better and the hCG), after abunch of questioning, they then had me open it and then tested it with a different kind of tester. It was clear so he went on.

He wanted to know where I worked and what I did for a job. He wanted to know if I worked with Launch Vehicle chemicals and I told him no.

Then he proceeded to look very, very carefully though all my work paperwork (hopefully he was a US Person).

Finally, they allowed me to go with my hCG and with the 3 hard gel packs.

So...here are my lesson's learned.

Put your hCG in one of those 3 oz. plastic bottles for the trip and put it in your plastic baggie with toiletries. You have to put those in a bin to be x-rayed separately.

Bring some extra baggies and just get ice on the other side of security, and then put it back in your lunch bag. You can get it free where they allow self serve fountain drinks, or ask for a cup. You want to double bag the ice at the very least.

Finally, put all scales in your checked luggage.

Then you ought to sail like a breeze.

I am fighting a sinus infection that is going bad, and have started to take meds. Don't know how all this impacts the weight loss, but I figure, if I am only eating 500 calories, I still am using the same or maybe a little more energy, so I ought to lose it, unless I retain water, which is the only other thing that could happen, and that will resolve itself in time.

To quote the stupidist line in a movie ever: Anikin Skywalker, "It's working! It's working!"

It certainly is working!

I am 2 days past 4 months on the protocol with no break, other than cheating days, which if you have been reading this, you know there have been a lot.

Things I have learned after 4 months;
(1) Hunger is not a problem, although you are eating only 500 calories a day, as long as you are consistent and eat as Dr. Simeons tells you to, you will not be hungry. This means skipping beef. This means no more than 4 1/2 oz of veggies (or figure actual calories). This means getting enough fluid. This means being as extremely consistent as you can be. Your body has to preplan fat usage. What you do today affects how much your body expects tomorrow or the day after that. There is a lag time of between 1 to 3 days for cheating. If I cheat today, my body plans for that same level of caloric intake, so it expects it tomorrow or the following day. If it is not there, mild hunger gets turned on. If you get past that hunger, you will reset the expectation.
Be consistent and eat at lunch time and dinner time only as Dr. Simeons tells you and you will only get hungry at lunch time and dinner time. Why? Your body expects it.
I am going to go out on a limb here. You need zero calories a day while taking hCG. None. Your body can do without it as far as hunger goes, for about a week. The reason you eat is not for hunger or calories. You eat because what hCG is doing, is telling your body that fat utilization is such a high priority now that it shouldn't look on the "list" anymore, but should just get it proportionately from everwhere and it should not distinguish between Structural, Normal or Excess Stored fat.
We eat to top off the structural and normal fat stores, or else we will eventually have all the effects other people dieting without hCG have - hunger, dizziness, the blahs, lack of energy, etc., We only eat the minimum amount to stay topped off. That's why the Transformation plan makes me scratch my head. They are eating as if it is satiating hunger. They don't understand what hCG does for you.


(2) Dr. Simeons knew what he was doing when he came up with his restrictive eating list. The more variation and flavor and excitement I add to the diet, while pushing the line on what is allowed, the harder it is to not cheat. I am not saying the food needs to be without flavor, but I am saying it has been easier when I eat the meat allowed and not the beef. I end up craving MORE, because it reminds me what I am giving up during the diet and I can't stop thinking about it. If I have a diet soda, all of a sudden I am craving something sweet and it works against me.
I think it is best to make it just good enough to eat, and to stick to Dr. Simeons plan and avoid all these other things people now say are allowed.
You aren't trying to figure out a new way of eating here. You are only doing this for a short time and then you return to normal living. It is best to forget normal food and just put on blinders and get through it.
The more viariation and pizzazz I tried, the harder it got. When I went back to the strict list and as simple as possible - boom. Right back to normal weight loss, in control hunger and a plan that is working for me.

(3) On days I skip taking my hCG, I can expect no or low weigh loss the next day. Why this is I don't know, but I am experiencing this and hearing that from a bunch of people. Now with sublingual, I don't have to skip, as no immunity develops. I think even with injections, you should not skip days and just move up the 3 week break. Of course, if you are still losing half your normal amount, this may be sufficuent to just do the skip day.

(4) Even if you are doing sublingual, take a 3 week break every 6 weeks. I think it will help you make it. I am not talking about stopping, but going to the 3 week concluding phase (that is called phase 2 or phase 3 by some - i.e. Allowed to eat anything and everything except sugars and starches, in any quantity).

I ate correctly today. 9 days in a row now. Not a record, but maybe second or third longest streak. I did well with the first batch and maybe the second. It wasn't until my birthday March 11th that I started to cheat a lot.

I am running low on this batch and only have enough hCG for one more 40 day batch.

I think I am stronger with my Mom here, because I am trying to help her be strong with her diet, and that is helping me too.

I am on travel and was at the mercy of the airport. I had a salad without dressing and with chicken (chicken ceasar without dressing). It was a big salad, so like 2/3rds of my calories I'd say, so I just had an apple for dinner.

I can hardly wait for Friday evening or Saturday morning. I am looking forward to being sub-200 lbs.

Gained 1.8 lbs. It is water retention, even though I cheated, normally I wouldn't bounce 1.8 lbs after cheating, I'd stay even. I definitely did not drink enough water yeasterday though. I will try to be better today. From past experience, I know it is water.

Did fine for lunch, with chicken, salad with lettuce, tomatoes, an apple and grissini's.
Dinner was chicken, salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucmbers, and grapefruit. Midnight snack was cheating (I found my families stash of junk food).

Chicken, salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, Lynn's salad dressing, a grapefruit and grissini's for dinner. Also had some canned pears with whip cream, and cheese burritos. OK-I was a bit hungry and cheated. I admit it. I have been fighting it because I let the hCG get ultra low again. 2 days in 1 week is the max. Any more and you are critical. I missed my dose last night and that combined with missing 2 days on my trip with another day just before and I pushed it too far. Now I need to TRY to hold the course here. I am tired of eating the limited diet and WANT TO BE DONE.

Used my last of batch 3 this morning. I have been taking 0.3 ml per dose, so it goes a lot quicker.

I didn't have enough bacteriostatic water, so I used 0.4 ml of filtered water. Also didn't have any needles, so I did my best without them. Wow do needles work a lot better!!

Lunch was chicken, salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, an apple and grissini's.

I also won't have a weight until Saturday. I am NOT packing a scale!

I DID buy real chicken at the deli counter (boneless/skinless), without the corn starch and sugar in the normal lunch meat.

Hopefully I can behave. I hae been doing pretty good, but I am bringing my wife and will want to wine and dine her, so we'll see.

I saw a Larry the Cable Guy commercial for NutriSystem and something he said puts a whole new spin on the amount of my weight loss. He said he lost 4 bowlig balls he was carrying around his waist. The official weight for a bowling ball is 16 lbs. which would be the one guys use. I have lost 3 1/3 bowling balls worth of weight. Wow!!! Oh my gosh that is a lot!! A little under 2 bowling balls to go!

Down 1.40 lbs again.

I think it is skipping the beef-and behaving, but I am thinking that skipping the calories and fat in beef is helping me be consistent in hunger and weight loss. My meals have been very similar the past 3 days. That's what my brother Nolan did. He had the same thing morning and night. Chicken, tomatoes, an apple and grissini and his weight loss was extremely consistent all the way through.

I feel much more in control these past few days. Hopefully, I am on to something here. I am going to try to skip beef until I am down to weight and on maintenance.

And be as consistent as possible with the water.

Oh and I now weigh less than when I moved to Florida, 8 1/2 years ago.

Now for some sobering facts - sobering for me anyway.

Of the 78 days;

I lost weight on 49 days
I had zero weight loss or gain on 17 days
I had weight gains on 12 days

I drank plenty of water on 41 of the 78 days
I drank what I would consider a marginal amount of water on 28 additional days
I had way too little water on 9 of the 78 days

I had (way) too many calories on 30 of the 78 days

I was hungry on 1 of the 78 days
I had minor hunger, or you might say what my mind interpreted as minor hunger on 25 of the 78 days.

When I really did get hungry on day 60 because my hCG started running out (3 days with no hCG in 4 days), I was acquanted again with real hunger. I think the minor hunger is a combination of the stomach shrinking and the body posturing to intake calories.

Interesting to note that in the areas I plateaud due to cheating, I would have had plateaus anyway due to sustaining that weight for prolonged periods of time. At least per Dr. Simeons book and clinical trials.

Ate correctly today, with real chicken-sliced, cherry tomatoes, an orange and grissini for lunch.
Had chicken, a tomato, and apple and grissini's for dinner. I used the deli scale to weigh the tomatoes to get close to enough for 5 days at 4 1/2 oz. per day.

I had noticed that when I eat chicken lunch meat on trips, etc., that I don't lose any weight. This morning I went to pick some up, only this time I looked on the back for ingredients. Viola! Corn starch and sugar and other no, no stuff. Same for them all. I went to the deli counter and they had boneless skinless chicken breast with no preservatives, so I bought that. I am curious to see if I lose weight. MUCH more expensive, but heck, one lunch out would be this much, and this is enough for a week of lunches.

My son made me macaroni and cheese for dinner, and I wasn't going to turn it down, it was such a thoughtful gesture.

If I know I need calories (I am really hungry), I haven't been trying to eat healthy. I just eat those things I have really missed. I figure my body needs the calories and what I put on will come right off. It may add a day at the end, but at least I "scratched the proverbial itch" and in doing so, I may actually last the entire time, as opposed to just crashing at some point, although it will take longer to get to the end than if i could both behave and continue. The problem for me may be continuing, so I won't sweat it.

Hunger was completely under control and I even forgot to eat my grissini for lunch. Had strawberries, cucumber and tomato, and steak for lunch.
Dinner was chicken, a tomato, grissinis and an orange.

Am more hungry than I've been since I started, and I know that it is because I skipped the 2 days on travel, and then missed a dose the next two days, so the hCG is low in my system.

I will just eat to satisfy the hunger, and realize the hCG will build up again in a day or two.

lynn's recipes

Feel free to share these. These are highly "Dan Approved."

Broccoli & Beef Bake

  • Very lean ground beef (weighed 3 ½ oz before cooking)
  • Broccoli and a slice or two of tomato to equal 31/2 oz before cooking
  • One chopped garlic clove
  • Thyme
  • Salt & Pepper

Fry ground beef in a little water, lemon juice and some onion. The onion will be removed so I don’t have to count it in the veggie weight, yet it gives the beef flavor.
Cook broccoli in a little water. Drain. Set aside three broccoli spear flowerets.
Chop remaining broccoli and the tomato that was weighed and not yet cooked.
Combine chopped broccoli, tomato, beef (onion removed), chopped garlic clove, with a couple shakes of Thyme, a couple dashes of salt & pepper.
Crush two Grissini bread sticks (if skinny type, or one if normal), and add to mix.
Mix well, top with the three broccoli spears (to look lovely).
Microwave on high for 30 seconds.
Voila! It does not solidify together but can be eaten and enjoyed with a spoon or fork.

Salad dressing

  • One plum tomato.
  • Two radishes.
  • 4 cucumber slices.
  • Italian Seasoning.
  • SaltPepper.
  • 3-4 TBSP water.

Blend in blender on low speed to chop then on high to get desired consistency.
Pour over salad and save remainder for three days in refrigerator.

OK, going the wrong direction here. Two days of big time cheating netted me a 0.8 lb weight gain.

I am going to post before and after pictures, to show my progress at this point. I will update the after picture from time to time.

Lunch was turkey lunch meat (I know,not allowed, but it is what Lynn made, so it'll have to do). Also lettuce, two tangerines (again, not allowed, but I eat what I am served), and grissini's.

For dinner Lynn made me a broccoli bake. OMGosh! This is AWESOME!! We will have this for YEARS to come, it is that good!! I posted the recipe today as well. I also had an orange. The Broccoli Bake had everything else I am allowed, combined. Man, I can't stop thinking about it and I am pleasantly satisfied!! Can't wait for that again!!



By the way, I am making very careful in both shots to stand natural and not hold anything in, so you see exactly what I really look like. Also the pics are before the same door and are not stretched or warped at all. This is really what 50 days of hCG does to you. You shrink all over and you look healthy and not gaunt or emaciated.

Down another 0.8 lbs. This is becoming a trend. BTW, if I lose another 0.8 lbs today, I will be exactly halfway to my goal of 175 lbs. My average loss is 0.78 lbs, which will go up if I can keep from cheating. My goal weight is trending to be April 26th - I can hardly wait.

I am almost out of hCG solution, so I will be mixing up a batch this weekend. Guess I'll do another 10,000 IU., and film it. This will be my final recommendation for mixing and for supplies, including all the lesson's learned.

I haven't been doing skip days since with the sublingual solution you aren't supposed to get immunity like with the shots. I will be skipping 2 days next week so I don't have to travel with solution - evening on the 11th, the 12th and morning on the 13th. I was hoping to be 210 lbs by March 11th, but unless something drastic happens, I won't make it.

Down 1 pound from yesterday. I didn't cheat for the first day in sometime.

Had chicken salad, with tomatoes and lettuce for lunch again with Lynn's special dressing - yum. Also grapefruit and grissini's.

Had Taco salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucmbers and 93/7 ground sirloin with taco seasoning, and a grapefuit. Instead of grissini's I had noodles. I figured if I was going to break the diet, I'd do an exchange and try to limit the damage.

Had a chicken salad with lettuce and a new salad dressing Lynn whipped up for lunch and dinner, with grapefruit and grissini's. She juiced a tomato, radishes, water and spices in the blender. It was great. Miss salad dressing so much and this is all out of allowed stuff and pretty low in calories as well.

Down 0.6 lbs, even with the cheating, but the remarkeable thing is this morning in the mirror was a noticeable shape difference. My belly overhang is gone today. My pants, which were good fitting yesterday, are lose fitting today. I think I'll take some measurements tonight and see. My face, neck and legs already looked thinner, but the torso looked a smaller version of the same shape as when I began. Now they are catching up. And today the hunger is better.

Had steak, salad with tomato, grapefruit and grissini's for lunch.
Had Tilapia and tomatoes for dinner. Oh yeah, I really, really cheated too. Found those snickers, twix and mint girl scout cookies Lynn hid.

Down 1/2 lb, even with the cheating.

I have been at least a little hungry for about a week now. Having a hard time not cheating, but it isn't like I am real hungry or famished or anything. I am trying to go to a 0.3 ml dose, up from 0.25 ml and see if it helps. Should start to notice tomorrow.

First day of eating just 3.5 oz of vegetables at each meal. 3.5 oz is less that I expected. I did cheat on girl scout cookies again. 5th day in a row. Better get this under control.

Another big bit of news is my good friend and co-worker Tracey has started now, through Transformations Clinics. He has some health issues and wanted to have a clinically monitored weight loss. It will be so nice having someone literally right across the aisle from me doing it with me.

Also, my brother-in-law Van has restarted again, this time trying to go with a larger dose and following the diet more closely.

Forgot to weigh this morning, so I assume I stayed steady since I cheated.

For lunch I had sirloin tip steak, broccoli, an orange and grissini's (269 cal).
For dinner I had chicken, and tomatoes, grissini's, an apple, and cookies (busted!!).


I reposted the calorie count list, with more choices and more calorie counts, specifically listing what 3.5 oz of each vegetable is, alphabetized, and listed ALL white fish, even the ones I did not calorie count. I also listed the link of a reliable place to check calories for certain items.

According to avereges, if you ate red meat for only one meal, and for lunch and dinner had 3.5 oz of meat, 3.5 oz of vegetables (you can double the quantity of radishes or cucumbers if you choose them), either an apple, or and orange, or a grapefruit, or 10 large strawberries, and a grissini or melba toast, then you would always be close to 500 calories for the day (average 480 calories).

I am going to start to not worry about calories any more and just follow this method. That will make life a lot easier.

Down 1.4 lbs. I was mildly hungry again, and again down over 1 lb. I am not giving into that hunger anymore. I am just trying harder to avoid the temptation to eat, so I can lose my max each day.

For lunch I had haddock, 1/2 tomato, and 1/2 cucumber, strawberries, and grissini's (227.61 cal).
For dinner I had Tilapia, and a salad with cucmbers, lettuce and raddishes.
I also cheated and at a bunch of cookies.


My brother Tim is going to take his 3 week break now, after 40 days of injections. I had mentioned that I had a total of 60 days worth of hCG (20 days on first batch due to testing and doubling my dose, and 40 days with second batch), and don't want to waste the rest, so I was thinking of just continuing. My brother Tim said he read that folks using oral solutions don't get immunity problems. I did a bunch of research and found Millenium Medical Spa gives users 60 days to start with, and tell them they don't have to take a break unless they want to. I have added a link on my left menu on the Releana diet with that info, and with their version of the diet, which is very similar, only noteable exceptions are they allow broccoli and cauliflower, 2 diet sodas a day and other sparking waters too, and in addition, they just do 3 1/2 ounces of vegetables and don't calorie count at all. So 3 1/2 ounces of protein, 3 1/2 ounces of vegetables, and fruit has to be 6 hours apart too. They don't mention melba toast either, but it is carbs so I would continue that. I think I will add broccoli and cauliflower to my list. I will also scan and link the Transformations version of the diet too.

DO NOT DO THIS DIET IF...you are just going to treat this as if it is any other diet fad.

This is not another diet fad. The only reason this works is the hCG-period. If you try the Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) WITHOUT hCG, you will have the shakes and be faint and famished within 3 days. With the hCG, you body consumes the excess fat for food and you NEVER get the shakes, feel faint or feel famished (until you get immunity or lose ALL excess fat). You will feel hungry as you stomach shrinks. You can then eat a tomato or a cucumber or an apple or an orange. This may delay the goal weight by a day (maybe, maybe not), but at least you are eating the right stuff.

If you do this protocol half heartedly and with no commitment, you not only WILL fail, but since you failed, everyone around you watching with hope, will think this doesn't work, when in truth it was you, who by not following the protocol, didn't work.

DO NOT DO THIS DIET IF...you don't believe you can survive on 500 calories a day, no matter how heavy you are to start out.

Some people think, "Well I am bigger," or "I require more food than the average person." Well, you are wrong. All the food you need is around you waist. The bigger you are, the more you have. The more you need, the more is available - right there, around your waist. The VLCD is meant to give you protein for muscles and brain and a little quick energy, which also keeps you normal fat stores topped off.

If you did start this diet for all the wrong reasons, but really do want to lose weight like everyone else who is on the diet, then go read the "Pounds and Inches" manuscript (again if necessary), get more hCG, figure out what "allowed" protein you are going to eat 3 1/2 ounces of ...decide which fruit to have (an apple, or an orange, or strawberries, or 1/2 grapefruit)...pick up some grissini breadsticks or melba toast (you get one)...and then choose from the "allowed" vegetables, the balance of the 250 calories. Do the same 2 times daily and drink A LOT of water, and as much coffee or tea as you want and nothing else. If you get hungry, eat an apple, or an ornage, or some strawberries, or celery, or a tomato, or a cucumber. Try to subtract the calories for the day, but if not, it is OK. HINT: Green tea is an appetite suppressant.

update on others doing the hcg/pounds and inches diet

My brother Nolan is done now, having reached his goal weight of 170 lbs. He is nearing the end of his 3 week concluding phase (you do it every time you come off hCG). During this phase your body continues to absord extra skin and tighten up muscles and skin and firm you up. You can eat more, but you don't eat sugars and starches until after this phase. He is doing well and I'll update his final stabilized weight and post a picture, if I can get one.

My brother Tim is down 28.6 lbs now and is continuing on. He is on day 38.

My sister Karin stopped 1 week for the feminine thing and has started again. She is still down 10 lbs overall.

My brother-in-law Van ran out of hCG and I am not sure if he is continuing.

My friend and co-worker Jerri started again 2 weeks ago and is down 7 lbs, but hasn't been eating strictly. She has lost about 50 lbs now overall on hCG.

Her brother also started 2 weeks ago and is already down 18 lbs!!

After returning not just the original scale, but it's replacement, I decided I better open packages and test them all until I got one that was very consistent. I am talking the most expensive scales at Walmart-none of the most expensive were accurate. One I stepped on 5 times and got 4 different weights, ranging 5 pounds, like the one I was returning. 6 scales later, I found the glass one, which was actually consistently accurate, and is accurate to 0.2 lbs too.

Now with my new scale, I weigh 229.0 lbs this morning, down 1/2 lb from my previous weight on the scale I returned. Don't know the accuracy, but at least it isn't more!! I feel I can trust the scale again.

I cheated a bit on cookies early in the day, so I just had two oranges, a tomato, and 2 grissini's today.

Did everything right yesterday, but no loss. Can't figure this diet out.

Today I had a bite of haddock (tasted bad so I didn't finish), cucmbers, and a tomato, an orange and grissini's (152.4 cal).
For dinner I had a taco salad (93/7 ground sirloin, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and taco seasoning). I also snacked on some girl scout cookies.

Well the good news is that I am lighter than I have been in years. Last year, with a lot of effort, I got down from 248 lbs to 235 lbs for a trip to Cancun, but even at 235 lbs back then, I look thinner now at 233 lbs, beacuse I lost proportioantely everywhere. Also, as opposed to a year ago, I have hope this time of maintaining the weight loss.

february 12, 2008 - day 27 (weight 233.0)

Down to 233.0 lbs from yesterday morning.

I actually measured my cups at work and found they aren't as big as I thought, so I wasn't getting as much water as I thought. Still got 8-10 oz. glasses, but though I was getting 10. Yesterday I drank about 100 oz. of water. I am trying to get 5-20 oz. bottles down a day. That is 3 liters and is a better recommendation than 64 oz. from what I read (2.5 liters for ladies).

I did my first dosing using my dosing syringe, rather than the dosing bottles and it was very easy. That is the way I would recommend anyone do it, who is going to go the sublingual/oral method.

For lunch I had Sirloin tips, cucumber and tomatoes, an orange and grissini's (323.25 cal).
For dinner I had Tilapia tomatoes, and 10 strawberries (179 cal).
(502.25 cal total).

I updated another chart that I made that compares things such as weight loss and water intake. Once I updated the water values based on my findings from measuring my cups yeste
